The Global Wind Organisation (GWO) is an association of wind turbine owners and manufacturers that aims to train personnel and support an accident-free working environment in the wind industry. A goal of the GWO is to implement effective and audited common working procedures and best practice standards for health and safety across all operators as a vital and necessary way to reduce risks to personnel working in the wind industry.
GWO has raised the standards of safety training across the industry. Three quarters of GWO members have standardised 30% or more of basic training. Over 300 trainers are certified to deliver GWO training in over 40 countries and have trained over 100,000 people.
This training program was developed in response to market demand for professional training/education, for blade repair, in the energy industry - wind energy branch. The program was prepared in cooperation with GWO members based on specific risk assessments, incident and accident statistics data related to the installation, servicing and maintenance of blades on wind turbine generators and wind power plants.
