Wind Turbine Blade Repair Training Course:

The training program is designed to ensure students the necessary skills in blade repair, as well as in preventing risks in the event of unsafe operation or abnormal parameters.

Students learn everything they need to know to better understand the particularities of different types of documents, to perform inspections and repairs of wind blades, to work with different materials (polyester, epoxy and vinyl ester resins) and to assess and repair damages in a safe and efficient way.


Course details:
At the end of the training program, participants will be able to:

  • Know and safely use work equipment and tools;
  • Master all types of materials used in repairs;
  • Carry out repairs to drainboards up to 1.5m long;
  • Carry out repairs to the leading edge up to 1.5 m long;
  • Master the technique of repairing laminates to the core;
  • Perform core replacement up to 200 cm2;
  • Do surface repairs, Filler, Top Coat, Gelcoat;
  • Correctly repair cracks and delamination in the leading edge;
  • Use blade protection systems, leading edge protection tape.

The Global Wind Organisation (GWO) is an association of wind turbine owners and manufacturers that aims to train personnel and support an accident-free working environment in the wind industry. A goal of the GWO is to implement effective and audited common working procedures and best practice standards for health and safety across all operators as a vital and necessary way to reduce risks to personnel working in the wind industry.

GWO has raised the standards of safety training across the industry. Three quarters of GWO members have standardised 30% or more of basic training. Over 300 trainers are certified to deliver GWO training in over 40 countries and have trained over 100,000 people.

This training program was developed in response to market demand for professional training/education, for blade repair, in the energy industry - wind energy branch. The program was prepared in cooperation with GWO members based on specific risk assessments, incident and accident statistics data related to the installation, servicing and maintenance of blades on wind turbine generators and wind power plants.
